FIOR Incident Management Training Reaches The Falkland Islands!

Following a recommendation from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office Barry Marsden, Director of Emergency Services & Principal Immigration Officer for the Falkland Islands engaged FIOR Directors Tommy Mann and Joe Holden to deliver an intensive 3 day integrated emergency management training programme to the Chief Executive and Directors of the Falkland Islands Government.

Between 7th – 9th April 2015 Tommy and Joe delivered 4 separate training inputs to in excess of 45 attendees drawn from key Government Directorates, Emergency Services, and armed forces units covering Gold, Silver, Bronze and Loggist roles, within the training facility located in the Falkland Island Defence Force headquarters.

The course were well received by those who attended with the following testimonial offered by Barry Marsden, Director of Emergency Services & Principal Immigration Officer:

In my role of Director of Director of Emergency Services & Principal Immigration Officer for the Falkland Islands Government I am currently undertaking a review and re-writing of our contingency planning in connection with critical incident management with a particular focus on integrated emergency management. Part of this review was to identify and deliver effective incident command and control training for the Chief Executive & Directors of the Falkland Islands Government.

On receiving a recommendation that the UK based firm FIOR were delivering a highly rated Gold, Silver, Bronze and Loggist training programme to both the public and private sectors I engaged Tommy Mann and Joe Holden the founding directors of FIOR to deliver an intensive 3 day command and control programme in April 2015 to key players in the Government as well as our Emergency Services personnel and partners from the armed forces.

Tommy and Joe’s real life experience of managing major and catastrophic incidents, together with their excellent training model incorporating the tensions of integrated emergency management, leadership and critical decision making techniques were extremely well received and enabled our review and updating of our contingency planning to move significantly forward.

As a result of this training investment there is no doubt that our key incident managers are now better prepared and equipped, not only to manage and lead in the high pressured environment of a critical incident, but also to control that crisis and avoid the incident becoming a disaster.

Tommy Mann & Joe Holden, Directors FIOR, Police Office, Port Stanley
